SpryPanel Documentation | 2.3. Advanced Content Editing
On
all of the content editing pages in SpryPanel, there are several
editing options that you can use in any text content elements. The
element that is effected by the option you pick will be the one that
you were editing (click on) last. The content editing features that are
available to you are similar to what you would expect to find in a word
processor.
Content formatting:
There are several ways in which you can format the content for how it appears on your web-site. These include:
- Font colour - select the colour that you would like to use for your content and and a SpryPanel formatting tag will appear in your editing window. Between the tags that appear simply put in the text that you want. For example: [font:red]Red text. 'Red text' will appear in red on your web-site.
- Font size - very similar to the font colour, simple put the text that you would like to be in a different size in-between the font tags. For example [font:7]Tiny text. 'Tiny text' will appear in a very small font on your web-site.
- Bold text - to add bold text simply click on the 'b' button and then fill out the box that appears with the text you would like to appear in bold.
- Italic text - like bold text, just click on the 'i' button and fill out the box that appears with the text you would like to appear in italics.
- Underlined text - like bold and italic text, click on the 'u' button and fill out the box that appears with the text you would like to appear with an underline.
- Link - to add a link to your content, click on the 'url' button and then put the URL (web-address) that you would like to link to in the box that appears. Click ok and then fill out the words that you would like to appear in your content for the link.
- List - you can add a list of items to your site simply by clicking on the 'list button' and typing out each item that you would like to appear in the list. After every item in the list click 'ok'. To end the list click the 'ok' button leaving the box blank.
- Indent - to add an indent (like a tab in a word processor) to your content, click on the 'indent' button.
Spell checker:
To spell check content on your web-site before you publish it, click in the content element that you wish to spell check and then click the 'Spell checker' link. This will open a pop up window with your spell checker text. Where ever SpryPanel finds an error in your spelling it will highlight the word in a pop up menu. This pop up menu will also contain all of the suggestions that SpryPanel has for the correct spelling of your word. Simply choosing the spelling you wish and then click the 'Submit changes' button. Your content will automatically be updated to take account of the changes.
Please note that in order to use the spell checker in SpryPanel you will need PHP to be compiled with Pspell support (--with-pspell).
Inline photos:
You can add photos and figures to text in SpryPanel, like you can in a word processor where the text will flow around the picture. To do this click on the 'Add an image' link and a new window will open. Select the picture and options that you want and then click 'Done'. You can see the full documentation for Inline photos in chapter five of this documentation.
Emoticons:
Emoticons can add a little but of light heartedness to your web-site, and can also be used to help convay emotions that you are trying to convey in text. To add them to your content just click on the content element you would like the emoticon to appear in and then click on the emoticon that you would like to use.
