SpryPanel Documentation | 1.2. System Requirements

SpryPanel has been designed to use as low as possible system requirements to ensure that its is open to as many people as possible. However, like all software there are certain needs that it has.

On the client side all that is needed is a web-browser. Since SpryPanel is a web application, all of its content editing features can be accessed through the world wide web. SpryPanel makes extensive use of CSS which which allows it to be completely theme-able and therefore easily integrated into your web-site. SpryPanel should work without any problems on any modern browser with CSS support, and therefore on any operating system which has a web-browser available for it. We have fully tested it with the following browsers and found no problems:

Windows
- Internet Explorer 41
- Internet Explorer 5 - 6
- Firefox 0.8 - 1.0
- Mozilla 1.3 - 1.7
- Opera 71
 MacOS X
 - Safari 1.21
 - Firefox 0.8 - 1.0
 - Internet Explorer 51
 - Opera 71
Linux
- Firefox 0.8 - 1.0
- Konqueror 3.0 - 3.31
- Mozilla 1.3 - 1.7
MacOS Classic
- Internet Explorer 51
1 - please note that the wysiwyg editor will not work in these web-browsers due to their restrictions

On the server side SpryPanel requires a server with PHP and MySQL support. We are currently developing a database layer for SpryPanel which will allow it to interact with many more database servers, however for the moment the free and open source MySQL database is the preferred option. SpryPanel requires a version PHP 4.3.0 or greater (including PHP 5), and will run on any platform which has a web server which supports PHP (Apache is the main candidate). The list below shows the requirements for SpryPanel, and the operating systems we have tested it on

- PHP > 4.3.0
- MySQL > 4
- Tested on Windows XP, MacOS X, Linux x86, Linux PowerPC, FreeBSD, Solaris
